- How do I sign up for a class?
Simply call (310) 377-1297, email us at office@penacad.com, or stop by the Academy at 550 Deep Valley Drive, Suite 277, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274. We will assess your child's needs, administer a diagnostic test as needed, prescribe a curriculum, and set up a tutoring schedule. Mention this website and receive free registration ($30.00 value)!
- Should I choose private or group tutoring?
Group tutoring is great for students who want to study in a group environment, and provides a dynamic learning experience in an intimate classroom setting.
Group Math provides a customized curriculum for each student with rotating 1-on-1 tutoring in a group classroom environment. Tutors also provide assistance with class homework or SAT math problems. Dr. Ahn (PhD in Mathematics), Jasen (MIT), & Eiman (NYU) are often available for group math.
Private tutoring provides more focused, personalized attention, and is recommended for students who are looking for intensive help, advanced study, or greater individual attention. A consultation with an administrator or counselor will help you decide which option is best for you.
- How long do classes last?
This depends on what course or class you take. For example, an SAT Prep course may last 4 or 8 weeks. A group class in AP Chemistry will go on for the whole school year. Private tutoring is flexible and can accommodate your specific needs and schedule.
- How can I make sure my child is progressing well?
The Academy has a Student Progress Monitoring system in which tutors periodically review their students' progress, keeping an eye on improvements and areas that need work. They then revise and adjust the curriculum to keep the student on track. In addition, the Progress Report Form has areas where the parent(s) and student can give their input and feedback to help our educators shape the appropriate curriculum. Our tutors and administrators are also available to speak with you to ensure that your child is receiving the education needed.
