Peninsula Academy College Acceptance Update

Fall 2021

Application for Fall 2021 is probably the most unpredictable, competitive, and chaotic cycle in the American college admissions history. Colleges and universities, especially those at the top, have seen their acceptance rates plummet to historic low. And that is why we are extremely proud of our students' acceptances, including Columbia, U Penn, Caltech, Cornell, Berkeley, UCLA, USC, and many others, with 20% accepted at an Ivy Plus college or university, 60% accepted at the nation's Top 30, 73% at the Top 50, and 40% awarded merit scholarships, as of this writing on April 21, 2021.

Our students come from a wide academic spectrum, earning an unweighted GPA between 3.1 and 4.0 and a weighted GPA between 3.2 and 4.9, and pursuing a variety of interests such as neuroscience, psychology, business, computer science, and aviation, to name just a few. Some came to us during the 2020-2021 application cycle, while others have been with us for years. College planning is a family journey that begins with dreams, filled with hard work, culminates into a strenuous application season, only to be followed by an emotional rollercoaster of waiting for the results. It is our honor to earn the trust and respect from our students and parents and become an integral part of that journey.

Almost all of my tutoring sessions at Peninsula Academy. After moving from Shanghai to Palos Verdes about 5 years ago, I was greatly struggling with English. Then I came to Pen Academy to seek for an English tutor. JJ was the one who helped me the most with my speaking, writing, and reading skills, and he helped me to get a decent score on SAT (1500). Other tutors I have had include TJ, Joseph, and Jason who helped me with math, biology, and physics, and I had great experiences with all of them.

When it comes to the time of college application, my college counselor Ji spent a lot of time with me brainstorming about the college essays. She encouraged me to be the person I want to be and express myself in my essays. Finally, all of these got me into my dream college.

Learning at Peninsula Academy was a very enjoyable experience as the tutors do not only help you to achieve academic success but also care about your personal well beings."
