8th Grade Planning Workshop

Peninsula Academy holds interactive and engaging high school and college planning workshop designed for local 8th grade students.

The process of planning and applying for college is complex and stressful. The only way to minimize that stress is to start early. Every spring, Peninsula Academy offers a free workshop to current 8th grade students and parents to help them prepare for a smooth transition to high school as well as start college planning early on.

This spring, the two-hour workshop was attended in full by 26 families, a total of 42 students and parents. General topics were discussed in the first half of the workshop, including course planning for 9th grade, choosing Pen High vs. PV High, test preparation, choosing extracurricular activities, and summer planning following 8th grade. The workshop then continued for another hour with breakout group discussion, where students and parents asked specific questions.
